Community Radio Awards to recognise work of volunteers
A brand new awards ceremony for community radio stations is to recognise the hard work of thousands of dedicated volunteers across the UK. Award submissions will open in May, with a ceremony to be held in the Autumn, of which more details will be announced soon. Here are the award categories for the inaugural 2016 Community Radio Awards All submission lengths given are maximum Community Development Project of the Year Social gain and community development is at the heart of what makes community radio unique, and great for the communities they are part of and serve. This award is designed to showcase those stations that run fantastic projects dealing with community issues. The projects don’t have to be on air, but the station has to be the main organiser. Examples could include training projects, fundraising campaigns with other organisations, community activities days or projects or stations that run community facilities such as museums and cafes.
